And whom, might I ask, is the artist of this magnificent specimen? And with what software was it forged?

Hi Pete,
I added a link to the Earth Observatory article where I found the picture. This is actually a slightly recolored picture of Saturn from the Cassini probe.
If you click on the picture and look at the larger version, you’ll see a tiny dot just inside the inner of the two faint outer rings.
That’s Earth.
