Zen Moment of the Day

No matter what you believe, there are educated, intelligent people out there who think you’re a fool for believing it.

  1. And understanding they are educated and intelligent is a big value: usually we think they are stupid!

  2. Well, we all believe some stupid things. But in so far as we believe in something sensible and “educated, intelligent” people think you’re a fool for it, that only proves that education doesn’t mean *anything* (yes, I mean that) and that intelligence is relative and doesn’t make you infallible.

Oh those fools that think I’m a fool ;-)

  3. But we also believe smart, true things; things that some educated people think are false.

I’ve noticed this quite a bit recently on the blogs – things that I know are true are called “insane” by people who are well educated.

It was very disconcerting, until that Zen moment popped into my head.

  4. Were you observing any particular beliefs when you came upon this Zenness? If so what were they?

  5. Just the belief that if you attempt to live your life without controversy, you are doomed to failure.
